Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and operate various types of machine tools such as lathes, mills, drill presses,
grinders, etc., selecting proper feeds and speeds
Work from drawings, sketches and verbal instructions to make components
Work to close tolerances
Use precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work
Perform hand operations such as filing, fitting, tapping, etc.
Keep work area and equipment clean
Ensuring the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization.
And other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be an active student enrolled in a machinist program at an accredited college
Mechanical aptitude
Basic mathematic skills
Some knowledge of precision measuring devices preferred
Some knowledge of reading blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings preferred
Some knowledge of Machine Shop practices is a plus
Attention to detail a must
